Re: just curious
I'm not sure but I think the skin around the eye is lighter on a goffins.

Re: just curious
goffins cockatoo ( Cacatua goffiniana ) aka tanimbar cockatoo
Cacatua goffini is restricted to the Banda Sea Islands of Yamdena and Larat (Tanimbar) of Indonesia, with an introduced population on Kai, ( Indonesia ) little corella ( Cacatua sanguinea ) AKA bare eye found all over australia and surrounding islands.. Cacatua ( basic meaning " white cockatoo " ) technically they are both under the Subgenus " Licmetis " confused yet ? Long-billed Corella, Cacatua (Licmetis) tenuirostris Western Corella, Cacatua (Licmetis) pastinator Little Corella, Cacatua (Licmetis) sanguinea Red-vented Cockatoo, Cacatua (Licmetis) haematuropygia Goffin's Cockatoo, Cacatua (Licmetis) goffini Ducorps' Cockatoo, Cacatua (Licmetis) ducorpsii so basically they are cousins kinda... as compared to the rest of the white cockatoo's Subgenus Cacatua Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Cacatua (Cacatua) galerita Lesser Sulphur-crested Cockatoo, Cacatua (Cacatua) sulphurea Citron-crested Cockatoo, Cacatua (Cacatua) sulphurea citroncristata Blue-eyed Cockatoo, Cacatua (Cacatua) ophthalmica Moluccan Cockatoo or Salmon-crested Cockatoo, Cacatua (Cacatua) moluccensis Umbrella Cockatoo, Cacatua (Cacatua) alba totally confused? basically they are cousins and the main difference in appearance is the colour surroundind the eye, corella is more of a grey colour and the goffins is more of a pale blue. size is pretty much the same. personally i think the goffins has a longer more curved crest, but thats just my opinion. regards matty

Re: just curious
Bare eyeds have just that- a bare patch of skin under their eyes. When excited sexually, the patch of skin will puff up to give it a swollen appearance. The bare eyed also seems to be a bit larger then the goffins- stocky.
http://www.fluffies.org/your-own-parrot-page-snoops.htm bare eyed cockatoo http://www.hornbeamaviary.com/goffins.htm goffins also seem to exhibit a bit more peach color around the face- but that of course varies from bird to bird. Most bare eyeds I have met tend to talk in a cute little english accent... |

Re: just curious
Thanks! The lady whom, I adopted Corkey from told me on the phone he was a Griffin Cockatoo, and I corrected her and told her I was sure she meant Goffin, and then after seeing Matty's B.E. I was amazed when he said he wasn't a goffin, made me wonder what the difference was. I can tell the difference now! Thanks again!!
