Fruit and veggie selectoin for my tiel

I just purchased a baby whiteface cockatiel, and I tried to feed her some orange, pole peas, kiwi, mango, and bell pepper. Should I wait to try this when she is fully weaned? I hand feed her twice a day, but she eats small seeds like safflower and millet. I just wanted to know if I was rushing things.

I'm sorry no one has replyed to your post. to TF and post pictures when you can!

Go ahead and give her veggies/greens/brown rice/pasta/cooked veggies/eggs,
also give pellets and a little seeds(a good tiel mix)...but only give millet in very small amounts like a treat, as it is very easy for them to get hooked on (happened to my tiel at weaning)and not want to eat anything else. and keep handfeeding,

BTW: how old is she?

I think it's a good idea to start introducing fresh veggies when they are weaning! Let them get used and in no time they will try it out!

That sounds good.

Also try some greens like kale, chard and dandelion.

They also love carrots and carrot-tops!

Ohhh boy!!! A whitefaced cockatiel. They are the best cockatiels there are! I am NOT biased...but here is what you can look forward to:
My WF boy is a total dork...he flirts with budgies

Tries to change the channel on the remote

But he is a loverboy

Also try broccoli

And corn:

She is about 4 months old now. And is she precious!! (Her name says it all!) I have tried the greens and fruit, but she really isn't taking to it all too well. I just got another baby whiteface, and he supposedly likes pasta. I will let him settle down before I try it.

Broccoli and corn were the biggest hits with my birds. I was amazed the first time I put corn in the cage - the whole lot was gone within 5 minutes. They love it!
Do you have any pictures of your babies?

It's actually better to wean the ONTO fresh foodss, so they are more willing. Roxy is much more willing to try new foods (i got her at 4 m.o.) than Link is (I got him at 9 m.o.).

Just keep on trying. Don't give up -- even if it takes a year!!!

They have to have veggies, so just be patient!
